Beginning in 2008, Vineyard Manager Ruben Solorzano set out to make wine. Ruben wanted to learn how his actions in the vineyard effect the final, bottled product. Like Ruben himself, these wines are big and bold.
Ruben selected lowest yielding blocks from each vineyard to deliver walloping, concentrated wines that will impress even die hard Paso Robles and Napa Valley fans
2012 marked the first in a string of picture-perfect vintages. Ripe fruit flavors coupled with smooth, mellow textures earned many fans, especially now that the wines have had time to hit a new high of maturity in barrel and bottle.
Without fear of inclement weather, Ruben allowed his fruit to hang until peak ripeness, nabbing just a couple tons from each vineyard at the last second, prior to wilting.
AT THE WINERY
In an effort to eliminate variables in the winery and offer a true reflection of Ruben’s work in the vineyard, all of the Hecho Por Ruben wines are natively fermented 100% whole-bunch. Ruben patiently waited for the wines to evolve in barrel before bottling the wines unfiltered. He then allowed the wines to age 18 months in bottle prior to release.
Seductive cherry-pop candy aromas waft from the bright red-hued wine. In the mouth, the wine shows rich and ripe. The 2012 Hecho Por Ruben Kimsey Grenache packs enough punch to hang with the biggest of Spanish Garnacha or anything in the new world – hedonistic to the max.
